Shawn Barr

Hey there,

I’m Shawn Barr, Adult Ministries Pastor at Antioch Bible Baptist.

My responsibilities entail directing Adult Christian Education, including the Adult Bible Fellowship classes, small groups and various electives throughout the year. I also organize and coordinate certain special events such as the Pastor’s Roundtable, various Conferences, and other all-church events.

I came to know Jesus as my Savior in High School after being invited to church by my girlfriend (now wife!). Shortly after being saved I sensed God’s call to the ministry, but with no specific direction pursued a business and accounting degree at Iowa State University (Go Clones!). Upon graduation our family moved to Kansas City where I worked at Hallmark Card’s, Inc. We had prayed that God would lead us to a dynamic, evangelistic church. Our first Sunday in town we drove by Antioch and decided to try it out. It turned out to be God’s answer to our prayers. We joined and began to get involved in ministry.

After 7 years of being involved at Antioch, I was called to be Pastor of New Salem Baptist Church in Decatur County, Iowa. After 3 years there we came back to be a part of the ministry team at Antioch.

Delana and I enjoy spending time with our family which includes Matthew, Eric, Sarina, and Stephanie. Currently I’m working on a theological degree at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In my spare time I try to squeeze in some hunting, fishing, and golf. Delana enjoys the piano. We love our church and enjoy serving the Lord in Kansas City.
